Mechanical building services in the UK work according to laws which are defined by the government. These laws make sure that the interest of the companies, as well as the clients, is protected. The overall designation of work and the people allowed are also defined. The law in the UK is known as The Building Regulations and it was passed in the year 1984. Since the act has been passed in 1984 there are numerous famous disputes which have been settled. In Scotland, however, there are different regulations which are in practice. These are known as Scotland Building Act 2003 and Building Standard Regulations 2005.
There are 15 sections in total which are defined and detailed under this law. These sections make sure that each and every aspect of the law is defined. There is no definition in the law related to the building which has not been defined. The law is also amended from time to time so that new standards are added. This also deletes the obsoleted ones making the entire regulation understandable for everyone. Some of the section deal with the overall building structure while the others make sure that the internal aspects are also covered.
The section A of the law states that the building must be constructed in such a manner that it presents no threat to the environment. The surrounding buildings must also not face any issue with the construction. The building collapse and how it can be avoided with ease has also been described so that the structure remains safe and secure for everyone.
The internal weight of the equipment has also been taken into consideration. The law states that the weight should be put in such a manner that it causes no harmful effect to the building. The base soil of the building is the one which holds all the weight. The soil must be check so that no future issues occur. This regulation also has a point which states that in case the soil is considered to be of substandard quality the government should be notified. Additionally, the site should be left for good.
Fire is considered to be one of the most harmful aspects related to the building. 9/11 is the biggest incident in the history that has led to building collapse due to fire. Keeping this situation in view the Building Regulations Act commands all the building services providers to keep the structure strong. If steel guards are used then they must be placed in such a manner that no sudden moment can cause them to collapse.
